We recommend allowing 4-6 months to judge the treatment. The treatment will improve and reach optimum at approximately 12 months. The lasers speed up your hair growth cycle, so in the first 1-3 months you may experience increased shedding as the thinning hair makes way for new, strong hair. This is a sign the treatment is working.

HairMax works through the process of Photo Biostimulation. It uses safe, nourishing low level laser light energy to stimulate the hair follicles at a cellular level. This helps to promote hair growth and extend your hair’s natural growth cycle. Your hair will grow fuller, denser, longer and stronger.

 

Therapeutic light energy is delivered directly to your hair follicles through the highest quality medical-grade lasers. Patented hair parting teeth (exclusive to HairMax) part your hair to ensure that the light energy reaches your scalp.

 

All HairMax devices use the same Medical Grade Laser diodes, which emit light at a near-infrared wavelength of 655nM +/-10nM. This is currently shown to be the most effective wavelength for the laser light to penetrate the skin to the depth of the hair follicle.
 

The HairMax Laser devices use a treatment known as Low-Level Laser Treatment (LLLT). This means the amount of energy being emitted is relatively low. The same wavelength of light can have multiple medical uses and it can have different effects depending on the power level used. For example, laser hair removal can use the same wavelength as HairMax devices, but use a much higher power laser. HairMax devices do not have the capacity to reach higher levels of power and don’t produce heat, so there is no risk the devices will cause hair removal.

 

HairMax lasers emit light within the visible light spectrum which is commonly called near-infrared or red light. All visible and non-visible light is a form of electromagnetic radiation and the word Laser stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. While the word radiation is normally associated with having potentially serious harmful effects, the wavelength of light that is emitted is safe to be used for this treatment and has no harmful side effects.

 

Some so called 'Laser' devices use LEDs to emit red light. While these LED devices can still be effective, the wavelength of light emitted covers a wider range. This means some light will be outside the effective wavelength for the treatment. LEDs are much cheaper than Medical Grade Lasers, which is why HairMax Laser devices are more expensive.

 

Other hair devices may use UV light. UV Light is a different wavelength of light to the near-infrared or red light used in HairMax devices. However, UV Light does not energize hair follicles & stimulate hair growth in the same way that HairMax Laser Devices can. UV light has been previously used as a treatment for Alopecia Areata, but is no longer recommended as a viable treatment. This is due to UV light being ineffective and having potentially harmful effects on the skin where applied. The relationship between UV light and skin cancer is well known, and this type of treatment can increase the risk of skin cancer. UV Light cannot be used to treat Male or Female Pattern Baldness.

HairMax laser devices are indicated for use by both men and women to treat the most common form of hair loss, androgenetic alopecia which is also known as hereditary hair loss, or male / female pattern balding / hair loss. This means that Hairmax laser devices can be successfully used to treat male and female pattern hair loss as well as hair loss or thinning hair caused by aging, menopause, post-partum, alopecia, hormonal changes or genetics.

 

The laser devices treat hair loss over the entire head, back, front, top and sides, unlike drugs that seem to work best only on the top of the head.

 

You are most likely to see success if you have mild to moderate hair loss or thinning, and are looking to regrow lost hair and help prevent further progression. The laser devices are not intended for people who have severe hair loss. Whilst HairMax laser devices can ‘awaken’ dormant hair follicles, once the hair follicle is no longer functioning, it cannot be revitalised. It is always best to start treatment at the first sign of hair loss, because the earlier you start, the better your results will be.

 

HairMax laser devices are not likely to be effective for treating alopecia areata or any of its variants.

 

HairMax laser devices will not prevent hair loss during chemotherapy and whilst there have been no clinical studies carried out on helping to return hair after chemotherapy, some individuals have used the devices in this regard and have reported some benefit.

The HairMax laser devices have been designed with both comfort and convenience in mind. 

 

The Hair Growth Lasercomb should be used 3 times a week, such as every other day (for example, Monday, Wednesday, Friday) for optimal results. Using th Hair Growth Lasercomb every day will not increase benefit.

 

The Hair Growth Lasercomb should be moved very slowly over your head, and not used like a brush. The device will emit an audible beep and/or vibration every 4 seconds to alert you to move the device ½ inch to the next site. You should continue to use the device this way until you cover either the area you wish to treat, or your entire head with multiple passes as described in the User Manual, until the treatment time is completed.

 

The HairMax Hair Growth Lasercomb should be used on a clean scalp so that the optimal laser energy reaches the scalp for delivery to the follicles for best results.

 

The HairMax Hair Growth Lasercomb is safe and gentle, and can be used with other hair growth products. To maximise hair growth and health, it's recommended to use the HairMax Hair Growth Lasercomb in conjunction with Hairmax shampoo, conditioner and scalp serum.

 

To maintain results, you should continue using the HairMax Hair Growth Lasercomb on a consistent basis to continue to see positive benefits. Once you are satisfied with the results, you may try to reduce treatments to twice a week for maintenance. However, if shedding occurs, you should return to treatment 3 times a week.
